Shaka Shade is a dual configuration shade, meaning you can use it in high wind, or without wind at all. All you have to do is attach the additional accessories provided that you can see here. Having said that, Shaka Shade is made out of a super lightweight parachute material so it only requires the smallest amount of wind to float. The 'no wind' option is more of a fail-safe for those rare, super still days.

Yes, of course! It's super quick and easy to set up Shaka Shade on your own - in fact, it's been specially designed for that purpose. For a single person, it takes approximately 3-4 minutes to set up in windy conditions, and about 4-5 minutes in calm conditions.

The Shaka Shade canopy measures 5m by 2.7m when laid flat. When deployed, because of the arch in the poles, it can provide up to about 12sqm of shade. The peak of the arch can easily be higher than 7 feet if desired, but it can also be lower if a wider shade coverage is preferred. It will easily provide enough shade for 4-6 people.

We were very conscious of sound when designing Shaka Shade, and factored this into our final choice of material. In a standard level of wind, Shaka Shade gently floats on the breeze and is beautifully quiet. Of course on those much windier days, it will make a little more sound, but you can still easily have a conversation at normal speaking level while sitting under it.

Shaka Shade’s canopy has a natural tolerance for some variation in wind direction. If the wind does change outside of this broad scope, however, it’s very simple to adjust. All you have to do is lift up one leg of the poles and readjust for the wind as needed. It takes about 5 seconds to complete.

Yes, the back guy ropes have metal adjusters so you can make the ropes as long or as short as you would like. And the length of the front guy rope can be shortened by wrapping it around the sand bag a couple of times before attaching the carabiner to the main strap.
